Hopsteady Red Rye Pale Ale
On February 28th, The Hempsteadys joined us in the Brewery to brew our collaboration beer, Hopsteady. While the band unleashed an unplugged set, we brought life to a red rye pale ale for our Outer Light/Hempsteadys Tap Takeover Mini Tour. And, wow! It is next level.
We equipped Hopsteady with a smooth, bready malt background, combining both American pale malt and German crystal malts, before arming the brew with piney Simcoe hops and citrusy Centennial hops. We then detonated Hopsteady with a heavy-handed dry hop addition of TNT hops, a new hop blend released last year. All the while, the Hempsteadys serenaded the brew to sleep each night with their sweet sounds of RAGING ROCK AND ROLL.
This redhead is a true bombshell, exhibiting a curvy, well-rounded body and subtle spice from the rye and Simcoe. She smells sweetly of apples and orchard fruits and tastes like the juicy strawberries handpicked from local farms in our youth.

Barrel Aged Synapse Lapse Imperial India Pale Ale

That’s your brain on Synapse Lapse Bourbon Barrel Aged Double IPA.
No, really. After you take a sip of Synapse Lapse, fuses blow, internal sparks fly, and your taste buds won’t know what hit them. Your brain feels like it spent a little too much time on the merry-go-round. You’ll never be the same.
An experimental hop variety called Idaho #7, a new hop known (aptly) as Lemondrop, and a dash of honey malt blend spectacularly well with bourbon. We promise you’ve never had anything like it.

On March 8, we celebrated International Women’s Day by kicking the boys out of the brewery and turning everything over to women.
The ladies from Outer Light Brewing Company, The Beer’d Brewing Company,Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island, Mikro Beer Bar, and Levine Distributing joined together to brew this year’s Pink Boots Big Brew, a gose with oranges and hibiscus flowers.
The Pink Boots Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to the empowerment of women in the beer industry through education and community. Each year, they put on a Big Boots Brew for professional brewers and a Little Boots Brew for home brewers. Of course, the brew days must be run by women only. The Pink Boots Society changes the beer style and recipe guidelines annually.
Outer Light Brewing will donate $1 of every pint of Pink Boots Gose to the Pink Boots Society. So come on out and support our brewer Sydney and other women in the beer industry by drinking this refreshingly tart, German-style, wheat beer.
