Jack’s Abby - Saxonator Returns

Co-Owner and brewer Jack Hendler says, “Hi I’m Jack from Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers and I’m excited to announce the release of Saxonator- our Doppelbock that we just released this past week here at the beer hall. The Saxonator is a traditional German-style strong lager. It’s very dark, it’s very malty, sweet and it has a chewy rasin-y sort of mouthfeel to it. It’s inspired by the beers that you would get typically in the winter in Bavaria. The reason we call this beer Saxonator is because the suffix –ator is a traditional way of noting that this is a double bock and Saxon comes from the original family business, which was an icehouse. So we brought the two traditions together to come up with a name for Saxonator.

We use a very traditional carbonation process called spunding- through that natural fermentation you get a nice frothy, sticky, foamy head. It has a beautiful mahogany amber hue to it. Sweet, malty, bready, a little bit of that roasty character, maybe a little hint of chocolate and just super smooth. It’s one of my favorite beers to drink in the winter time- it’s real warming, 8.5%, full bodied. So the Saxonator is available now. I can’t really tell you how long it’s going to be available so definitely, if you see it, buy it. I’m Jack from Jack’s Abby, thanks for watching.”
