BrewDog 2016 - Sour Program, Dalston Hop Works, Berlin Bar & More

From BrewDog:

Last year was an amazing twelve months for BrewDog, as we continued with our ongoing quest to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are. But here’s the thing – 2016 will be even better. We have so many projects on the go, irons in the fire, cards in our deck – however you want to term it, every day brings something new and exciting.

So here is a run-down of ten things we are most excited about for 2016…

New Brewhouse

This list is in no particular order, but one development that would be near the top is our new 300HL brewery, to the east of our current site. Bowman and Franz have been hopping from one foot to the other for a while, but their second Christmases look set to arrive in March when we begin the first test brews. Our HQ teams have pulled out all the stops to get the brewery on-line on-time, and we can’t wait to get the beer flowing from our kick-ass new brewhouse!

Jet Black Heart

And speaking of beer, we have been excited about Jet Black Heart ever since the thought of nailing a nitro stout came to us (so a long, long time then). They say good things come to those who wait; Jet Black Heart launched yesterday - you can buy the beer online here. We have been psyched about the reaction so far to the beer, the serve, and by returning a dark beer to our Headlining line-up. If you haven't had a chance to try it yet, this is something you can tick off the list as soon as you like!

Lone Wolf Distillery

Just a month after the new brewhouse fires up for the first time, we’ll be celebrating a second debut at our Ellon HQ. We can’t wait to begin producing hand-crafted small batch spirits, and the newly-named Lone Wolf Distillery launches in April. Check back for a detailed update on artisanal gin, single-malt vodka and other amazing experimental spirits on the blog next week!

BrewDog Sours

We have now secured a site for another of our epic programmes for 2016 – our foray into the joys of sour beers. To fully unleash wild fermentation and sour barrel ageing, a dedicated location is needed, and we have an area pinpointed for construction of our BrewDog sours facility. The base beer will be brewed at our Ellon brewhouse and then taken to this building ready for the bacteria, the wood and (above all) the time to work their magic.

Dalston Hop Works

The craft beer scene in London is surging like nowhere else, so it is the perfect place for the unveiling of a new type of BrewDog bar. In the spring, this art deco factory in Dalston will re-open as our first Hopworks – a huge bar and BottleDog with a very special addition. For hire, eight pilot kits that can be booked by anybody wanting to brew their own beer and learn more about the art and science of brewing whilst enjoying the very freshest craft beer as they go!

2016 #PunkAGM

Stand by for a dedicated #PunkAGM Preview very soon, but we cannot wait to welcome thousands of our army of Equity Punks as they make the annual beery pilgrimage to the AECC in Aberdeen. Saturday 9th April is the day (and night) – Equity Punks you can sign up on the forum right here!. With guest breweries such as Cloudwater, Victory Brewing Co and Modern Times already confirmed (with more to come) it is going to be one hell of a party!

BrewDog Columbus

As you probably know by now, it’s not just one brewery that we are going to be opening this year. Our American project is still firing on all cylinders and we hope to be fully operational towards the end of summer. We will have a more detailed update in a while, but alongside our new production brewery in Columbus, we are also planning a brewpub for the East Franklinton area of the city. America – we’re on our way!

Hammerheads

The 2013 Prototype Challenge seems like a long time ago – that was when a fledgling beer called Jack Hammer burst into existence. We simply can’t brew it fast enough, and this coming year is when we reveal a series of small-batch spins on our resinous piledriver. The first of those Hammerheads will be out at the start of next month, and it will be Monk Hammer – our ruthless IPA fermented with Belgian yeast. Get excited.

BrewDog Berlin Mitte

Our upcoming Berlin bar is also something we are really psyched about. The chance to open a bar in the cradle of European brewing history where beer is an everyday way of life has been on our radar since the beginning. It has taken us longer than we’ve wanted, but the 30-tap location keyed in is amazing, on the border of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg just near the iconic Mauerpark. Springtime in Berlin, anyone?

DIY Dog

And finally….well…this one will have to remain Top Secret for now. Watch this space…
