We brought you a peek at this beer, and now the release dteails from Surly & Mikkeller:
Brett Mikkel’s IPA is our collaboration with the traveling Danish brewer Mikkel Bjergsø. Mikkel is co-founder of the Danish brewery, Mikkeller, and shares our interest in experimentation and creativity. Todd and Mikkel got together and came up with Brett Mikkel’s, which takes the concept of an IPA, blends in new German aroma hop varieties, and ferments them with Brettanomyces, rather than a traditional ale strain.
The beer debuted on draft in limited quantities in our Beer Hall in July 2015. Now, we’re excited to tell you that we’re putting it in 750ml bottles that will start to hit shelves in Chicago, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin in mid-January. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled – they’ll be gone fast.
Head out to the store for this light-bodied and dry IPA – the combination of Brett and hop varieties offers complex earthy notes with tropical and candied fruit aromas while the honey malt provides an intense malt sweetness. It’s been hugely popular at the Beer Hall and we know you’re going to love it.
