We brought you a peek at this beer back in Nov, and now this from Escutcheon Brewing:
Escutcheon Brewing Company, a Winchester, Virginia based micro-brewery announced today the release of the John Riggins 4th and 1 Pilsner. The classic style is the personal favorite of the NFL Hall of Fame running back and has been crafted in collaboration with the ‘Skins great. A release party is planned for December 11, 2015 from 5-7pm at The Greene Turtle location at Verizon Center, Washington DC. Mr. Riggins will be in attendance to support the release of his signature beer. More info on the release party can be found via social media for both The Greene Turtle and Escutcheon Brewing.
Riggins' friend, business partner and Escutcheon founder, Art Major, issued the following statement:
“We consider our partnership with John Riggins to be a real game-changer, and we're excited as hell about this beer. Any excuse to spend time drinking beer with John is a good excuse – and making a beer for him is a REALLY good excuse.”
While in the brewery sampling the his new brew, Mr. Riggins said “I've known Art Major for awhile, and when I thought of the possibility of brewing a beer to my liking, Art's name was the only name on the list. Not because there weren't other possibilities, but because I know [Art] doesn't half-step anything, and after meeting Brewmaster John Hovermale, it became obvious Art had chosen his brewmaster wisely. In my opinion, John Hovermale may have created a Pilsner that will put a fork in the road of the Pilsner Parkway. 4th and 1 Pilsner may be the road less travelled, but most enjoyed.”
The new release John Riggins 4th and 1 Pilsner will be available next week, on draft throughout DC, MD and VA. Also available at participating Greene Turtle locations, including Sterling and Leesburg, Virginia.
Escutcheon is distributed in DC and Virginia by Kysela Pere Et Fils, a Winchester-based beverage distributor. Distribution in Maryland by Kenco. Cans of the John Riggin’s 4th and 1 Pilsner are due out early Spring 2016.
