This update from Epic:

Starting in December, Epic will be releasing the Utah Session Series, a new line of Utah exclusive 4% ABV beers with statewide availability both on draft and in bottles. As the go-to brewery for full-strength beer in Utah, offering a large variety of 22oz bottles at their brewery and state run liquor stores, Epic hopes to raise people’s perceptions and expectations with their approach to low ABV beer.

“We’re approaching session beer the same way we approach all our beers: with creativity, innovation, and a commitment to high quality ingredients,” explains Epic’s Brewmaster, Kevin Crompton.

The Utah Session Series will initially consist of five, 4% ABV beers, including a Mosaic and Simcoe hopped Session IPA, a single-hop Golden Ale featuring Centennial hops, a spiced Wit beer, an Orchard Raspberry Ale and a kettle soured IPA which will be the first sour beer in Utah grocery stores. Epic’s exponential creativity and passion for variety will fuel future additions to the series including an entire lineup of Orchard fruit beers, inspired by the fruit stands along US-89, and a rotating lineup of unique sour beers.

The Utah Session Series beers will be available on draft at bars and restaurants as well as in Epic’s signature 22 oz. bottles. Bottles will be available at grocery and convenience stores throughout Utah starting January 2016. Epic will be partnering with General Distributing Company, Utah’s craft-focused beer distributor, who will be distributing across the Salt Lake Valley.

“Right now Epic bottles are only available to take home at about 50 locations across the state. General Distributing will bring that number to nearly 400 just in the Salt Lake Valley,” says Ryan Kluh, Epic Brewing’s Utah Sales Representative.

Epic will continue to expand availability across the state with other distribution partners in early 2016.

“I’m really proud of our Epic team and the beers they brewed for this series. They’ve taken a really unique approach to the kind of beer styles that make sense at 4% ABV,” says Epic Brewing Co-Founder Dave Cole, “I’m especially excited about the Sour IPA, which is a new style that’s gaining popularity nationally, and we are making widely available in Utah grocery stores.”

The Sour IPA will reward adventurous drinkers with a pleasant kick of bright citrus and a perfectly balanced tartness. More than just an IPA, this beer explodes with sour grapefruit acidity highlighted with a bright, fruity hop aroma. It utilizes a contemporary souring technique that creates a clean, piercing tartness that compliments the tropical and citrus flavors of modern hops.

The Session IPA is an exciting, contemporary-style India Pale Ale featuring tropical flavors such as passion fruit and tangerine from late-addition Mosaic and Simcoe Hops. It’s a bright, hop-focused beer that’s refreshing and easygoing.

To kick off the new line of beers, Epic has partnered with several local establishments for a series of tap takeovers where guests can sample the five new brands.
