TWO NEW BREWS RELEASING THIS MONTH
Alpha Domina Mellis III & Starr Hill Collaboration: Jenny Greenteeth
Alpha Domina Mellis III
Our winter seasonal Double IPA, Alpha Domina Mellis, returns to taps around the region the week before Christmas this year. ADM III incorporates malts from Copper Fox and locally-sourced wildflower honey from Burnside Farms in Haymarket, VA. It will also use Manderina Bavaria, Hüll Melon and S. S. Steiner experimental variety 05256 for some of the hop varieties in the beer. ADM III has an 8.5% ABV, and will be available on draft only.

We're excited about our latest collaboration with Charlottesville's Starr Hill Brewery. Brewmaster Robbie O'Cain and our team set out to make a British Double IPA using all British ingredients. According to O'Cain:
All of the malts and hops have been imported from our partners in the UK at Simpsons, Hopsteiner UK and Charles Faram. The yeast is a traditional British Ale which ferments dry, allowing the EKG and Pilot to shine through but also has a nice ester profile which compliments the hops as well. The British Double IPA is slightly different than the American Double IPA by generally having a lower bitterness, more of a focus on the spicy and floral hop characteristics and the larger use of crystal malts for which the UK is famous for. We dry hopped this beer with EKG at about half the rate our normal American IPA/Double IPAs are dry hopped to create a well balanced and very pleasant Double English IPA. The ABV is also slightly lower than most American Double IPAs. The golden oats provide a smooth mouthfeel and a fantastic foam stability!
