Mason’s Brewing Company announced today that it is beginning the construction of its German-style brewing facility on the edge of the Penobscot River in Brewer, right across from the Waterfront Concerts Pavilion in Bangor.
Mason’s Brewing Company, which is scheduled to open their doors in mid-April 2016, will have a 20-barrel brewing system with state-of-the-art equipment. It will feature a traditional, German-style beer hall highlighting a rotating tap of first-class craft beers. Founder Chris Morley and his wife Barbara have traveled the world studying beer culture in places like Germany, Belgium and California, visiting brew houses and beer fests in hopes of bringing back perfect formulas from across the globe.
“During our first trip to Germany we got a good taste of what a regional brewery does for its community,” says Chris. “Beer halls and pubs in Europe are a gathering place where the whole family is welcome, including dogs. Great conversations happen over great pints, and people bring their instruments in and just start playing. We want to recreate that sense of community, that local gathering place, here at home.”
“The City of Brewer is delighted to have Mason’s Brewing Company on our waterfront.” Says D’arcy Main-Boyington, Economic Development Director of the City of Brewer. “We have been working closely with Chris Morley for the past three years and think that Mason’s will attract not only tourists to our area but also other great businesses to our waterfront.”
The community will also have some say in which beers get added to the brewery’s brand. Mason’s Brewing Company will have a core product line featuring the best of their German, Belgian, and American style ales, and the beer hall will also have four taps rotating test batches. If a particular test batch becomes popular, it might then be added to the core brand.
