From Hopworks:
PORTLAND, OR. – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) announces the release of their cult-classic seasonal offering, Organic Abominable Winter Ale. Abominable emerges from the depths of the brewery every winter, surprising drinkers with a complex floral, spicy and citrus backdrop from organic Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, and Simcoe hops. Munich and caramel malts provide a balanced sweetness. Abominable is 7.3% ABV and 70 IBU.
This year the release of Abominable Winter Ale coincides with the Handmade Bike & Beer Festival,” said HUB’s brewmaster and founder, Christian Ettinger. “Our brewers have recently reported sightings of strange, beer-soaked footprints in our barrel cellar. I’m a little nervous the monster will show up at the event while our unexpecting guests are on site, but finding the Abominable snowman is on my bucket list, so deep down I’ve got my fingers crossed.”
In addition to releasing Abominable Winter Ale at the Handmade Bike & Beer Festival, HUB will also tap Abominable variations including: Cinnabom, an Imperial Abominable aged on Cinnamon, and an Imperial Abominable aged on Cedar. The event takes place on October 3-4 at HUB’s Powell brewpub location.
Abominable Winter Ale is available in 16 oz. cans, 22 oz. bottles and on draught throughout HUB’s distribution. It is also available at Hopworks Urban Brewery and Hopworks BikeBar.
Abominable is HUB’s most popular seasonal beer and has inspired countless creative homages by Abominable fanatics around the country, including an Abominable corn maze last year. Abominable Winter Ale replaces Pig War White IPA and will be followed in February, by Rise-Up Red IRA, a gold medal-winning Northwest Red Ale.
