Beer Drinkers Nationwide Make a Plan to Make it Home on Global Be(er) Responsible Day… And Every Day

Every year on Global Be(er) Responsible Day, Anheuser-Busch employees remind adults of the importance of drinking responsibly and always thinking ahead to have a plan to make it home safe.

On Sept. 18, Anheuser-Busch teamed up with Uber and other local partners to spread this important message with beer drinkers in more than 50 markets throughout the United States. Adults in New York City redeemed more than 250 free Uber rides (that’s 631 miles!) Sept. 18-20, courtesy of Budweiser. In St. Louis, Anheuser-Busch employees canvassed baseball fans outside St. Louis Cardinals games throughout September to raise more than $35,000 for The BackStoppers, an organization dedicated to supporting the families of fallen first responders.

Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable and on Global Be(er) Responsible Day – and every day of the year – Anheuser-Busch, its employees and wholesalers are working in their communities to encourage the use of safe ride programs and designated drivers.

Here are five tips on celebrating responsibly and making a game plan:

  1. Make a Plan Before You Go Out: Whether you call a cab, call a friend or arrange for a designated driver, make a plan to make it home every time you go out. Do whatever it takes to get home safely.
  2. Know Your Limits – At the beginning of the evening decide how many drinks you plan to enjoy and stick to it.
  3. Remember Not All Drinks Are Created Equal – Unlike pre-packaged beer, the amount of alcohol in a mixed drink can vary.
  4. Eat and Stay Hydrated – High protein foods slow down the absorption of alcohol and it is also a good idea to alternate between alcohol and water/non-alcohol drinks throughout the evening.
  5. Get Home Safe – Follow through on your plan with a safe ride home
