Johnnyrandom (you may know him from Bespoken) came to New Belgium to produce a concerto from sounds from found objects at the brewery. This is a peak at what he found. Stay tuned for the concerto this summer.Johnnyrandom (you may know him from Bespoken) came to New Belgium to produce a concerto from sounds from found objects at the brewery. Sometimes the fine line between the spectacle and the absurd is big, bright and colorful — and it's a spot that Jimmy Kuehnle finds himself in often. Based in Cleveland, OH, Kuehnle twists visual and performance art into a single thread, creating pieces that spark conversation, interact with their environment and (at least in this case) function as mobile porch parties.
We’re firm believers in the bike as a means of transportation, a fun form of exercise and, importantly, an avenue for self-expression. That’s why we teamed with Kuehnle to build the least practical bicycle possible to celebrate Porch Fest, an annual party in Cleveland’s Larchmere neighborhood. Featuring six riders, five umbrellas, three coolers (stocked with beer) and one grill, Kuehnle’s porch bike slunk through the streets, serving as a source of grilled goods, cold brews and good vibes along the way.
It serves as a reminder that our bicycles don’t just help us to get to work in the morning, but also to build community. Because as Kuehnle said, “I enjoy being alive. At some point I won’t be, so I want to — within reason — have as much fun as possible before that.”
