From Flying Fish:
Well this is a new record! The whole brewery team has put in a ton of effort to make all these tasty beers happen, so here’s the rundown:
Pescado Rojo
A big hoppy red ale aged in Cuervo® Tradicional® 100% agave barrels. Tequila does wonderful things for beer and this limited edition proves it. The oak pulls out all kinds of interesting flavors from the hops and imparts a tasty tequila overlay. These are available throughout NJ in 750 ml bottles—but there were less than 500 cases made. The barrels are now back to Mexico for aging more tequila which will be released shortly as part of the Ale Cask project. More when that becomes available.
NJ 351
We aged a portion of the last batch of NJ 350 in freshly dumped Breckenridge Bourbon barrels and are now pleased to announce NJ 351 Barrel Aged Stock Ale. The beer is extremely limited and will only be on sale in the tasting room in 750ml bottles.
Brotherly Suds 6: Philly Pharmhouse
The Philly area brewing community is known as being a pretty tight knit group and the Brotherly Suds collaboration demonstrates that. That's the good looking group in the top photo. Flying Fish brewed this year’s version with help from Earth Bread, Iron Hill, Nodding Head, Sly Fox, Troegs, Victory, Weyerbacher and Yards. This saison combines two major Philadelphia/South Jersey food groups: beer and soft pretzels. Pharmhouse is malty with bready notes from the wheat and features flavors of salt and mustard. We actually added soft pretzels to the mash, mostly because they looked cool floating in with the barley. The beer is lightly filtered and comes in at 7% ABV.
The first keg of Brotherly Suds will be tapped by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter wielding the Hammer of Glory at Opening Tap, the kickoff to Philly Beer Week.
Gone Fish’n
This IPA is an offshoot of our brewer’s choice project originally brewed on our pilot system. This IPA has big bitterness and an even bigger hop nose featuring a tropical citrus character unlike any of our other beers. Four hops went into the boil and it was finished with a dry hop of Warrior, Citra and Azacca. Lightly filtered GF comes in at 7% ABV. Only 50 barrels were brewed of this draft only beer but it will be available in all our markets starting June 1.
