From Anheuser-Busch:
(ST. LOUIS) May 13, 2015 – The first ever Anheuser-Busch Hackathon will be held May 16 and 17 at CIC Startups in St. Louis. The 24-hour event will challenge developers to build apps that connect with millennial consumers 21 and older and engage them with Anheuser-Busch brands. Developers will work from an Anheuser-Busch application programming interface (API) created by AngelHack, the world’s largest and most diverse global hacker community, exclusively for the hackathon in conjunction with MuleSoft. Registration is open to the public, and those interested can sign up to participate at abhackathon.com.
St. Louis was Anheuser-Busch’s first choice as the host city for the brewer’s inaugural hackathon.
“St. Louis is our hometown but it’s also a hub for emerging tech talent,” said Fued Sadala, vice president, information and business services for Anheuser-Busch, and one of six hackathon judges. “We’re always looking for new ways to connect with millennial consumers, and the Anheuser-Busch Hackathon is designed to bring members of the local innovation community together to create the next best thing in app technology.”
Developers, designers and entrepreneurs, who are 21 or older, will use internal data, external APIs, SDKs and other tools from today’s biggest innovators in technology to bring their ideas to life. Participants will then introduce their technology and answer questions from a panel of judges, including Terry Hemken, senior director analytics and innovation, Anheuser-Busch; Roberto Garcia, founder & CEO, Listo Movie App; Amy Susan, director of marketing and communications, Missouri Department of Economic Development; Scott Bernstein, vice president, Lewis & Clark Ventures; Travis Sheridan, founding executive director, Venture Café – St. Louis.
“This is the first time AngelHack has worked directly with a brand to build out an API,” said Sabeen Ali, founder and CEO, AngelHack. “Developers will get a firsthand look at a piece of technology created exclusively for this event and the chance to pitch their ideas to one of the most recognized names in beer. We anticipate some great projects.”
