From Starr Hill:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA—(March 16, 2015) Starr Hill Brewery is set to hit the stage and shelves
with a redesigned logo and new packaging artwork in early Summer 2015.
This refresh celebrates Starr Hill’s 16-year evolution from a small, niche-focused brand to a
regional craft brewery with a wide audience, while remaining true to its humble roots of
bringing people together through great beer. The handcrafted, colorful new imagery draws
inspiration from the natural landscape of scenic Central Virginia and gives a nod to some of
Starr Hill’s past label designs with a fresh perspective.
Starr Hill has partnered with Charlottesville-based design shop, Storyware, and their Creative
Director, local artist Wyndsor Hug, to develop the brand and artwork for the updated
packaging and website. Wyndsor’s past design work includes album art and materials for
several music artists, including Dave Matthews Band.
“This new imagery absolutely elevates our look to the level of our beer through consistency
and quality,” said Brian McNelis, Starr Hill’s President and CEO. “We believe these new
designs will resonate with our devoted fans, as it truly does with our team at the brewery, and
encourage those new to Starr Hill to discover our award-winning beers.”
Kicking off the packaging refresh will be Starr Hill’s core brands of Northern Lights IPA,
Grateful Pale Ale, The Love Wheat Beer, Double Platinum Imperial IPA and Jomo Vienna-Style Lager. Seasonal brands and variety packs will released with the new packaging
beginning this Fall with Boxcarr Pumpkin Porter followed by Snow Blind Doppelbock in the
Winter. New packaging for Spring and Summer seasonal brands, including the new Reviver
Red IPA, as well as the All Access Series, will launch in 2016.
The update in imagery coincides with forthcoming enhancements to several Starr Hill beer
recipes, to be announced upon release of the new packaging. Later this spring, Starr Hill will
begin unveiling previews of the new label designs at special events and on social media.
