From Idle Hands:
Our newest foray into German lagers hits the shelves and taps this week. This Spring we opted to take a more old world approach and brewed a traditional Munich Helles that we call Heide. You'll see it on the shelves as a "House Lager" as this is the style that defines a lot of Bavarian Lager breweries. Heide has a soft malt profile with flavors of fresh bread, bread crust and a touch of biscuit with a light and barely noticeable noble hop character.
D'aison returns in 2015 as a Spring release. We tweaked the beer ever so slightly this year to make the beer a bit more succinct and bright. It still has that unique pumpernickel and light chocolate malt character but the underlying saison flavors are much more present than before. Draft has already started making its way out and bottles should be available next week.
Enlightenment's Rite of Spring should start cropping up on shelves next week. This annual seasonal combines two of Ben's favorite brewing ingredients: hops and brettanomyces. This year's release has much more tropical fruit character than in the past with intriguing floral notes underneath.
More of the Old and New
- New batches of Klara (Dortmund Lager) and Adelais (German Pils) for our lager fans.- Patriarch has been refined a bit to bring the ABV more in range with what a table beer really is (now 4.9%) and we released it in 500ml bottles so you can grab one on your own without reservation.
- We're all excited that Brett (our assistant brewer, not an abbreviation for brettomyces!) brewed his first commercial beer from inception to packaging recently. Called Iron Garde -- it is a biere de mars late hopped with Citra, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe. Look for Brett's inaugural brew in late April and congratulate him on a job well done!
