From Modern Times:
Our next 22oz release was bottled today & hot damn is it ever a devastator. City of the Dead is a 7.5% ABV export stout spiked with 140lbs of our house-roasted bourbon barrel-aged coffee!
Rich, full-bodied, & bursting with barrel-aged coffee aroma & flavor, this coffee stout is truly a unique & delicious animal. We were the first brewery to ever make beer with barrel-aged coffee, and now we're the first to do a large-scale bottle release. And, of course, we roasted it all ourselves. Cool stuff!
But you may be asking yourself, "WTF is a bourbon barrel-aged coffee bean?" Totally reasonable question! That blog post from back in January of 2014 explains the process & how we use it to make super awesome beer.
Bottles of City of the Dead go on-sale at both tasting rooms tomorrow & start hitting shelves around SoCal later this week. You should be able to find it at most places you saw City of the Sun.
Side note: City of the Sun bottles will be back at both tasting rooms tomorrow, too.
In other news, we finalized the can designs for our upcoming seasonals and they are looking mad sexxxy. First in line is Booming Rollers, a 6.8% ABV IPA that is loaded with Citra, Motueka, and Centennial hops.
If you liked City of the Sun, Booming Rollers will definitely be your jam. It's a blastwave of Citra radness & a super tasty, firmly bitter beer. Expect to see cans & draft all around SoCal starting the first week of March.
THIS WEEK we've got three great events planned in L.A. & you should definitely come party with us, if for no other reason than to drink the cask of City of the Dead w/ vanilla beans & the keg of Nitro Cold Press Coffee. It'll also be a rad opportunity meet some of the folks behind Modern Times while drinking a spectacular array of beers that don't normally leave our tasting rooms.
