From Sierra Nevada:
Let’s envision a refrigerator—one dedicated to beer, of course—that holds the entire lineup of beers we brewed in 2014. Well, if you swung that door open, you’d have to dig through more than 80 (!) different brews ranging from nationwide releases and collaborations—think Beer Camp Across America—to small-batch stuff we only made enough of to serve at our brewery. Our brewers were feverish this year and, we assure you, 2015 is looking stocked, too.
Stay tuned, the January e-newsletter will share a few brand-new treats!
SMALL-BATCH BREWING IN MILLS RIVER
To go big, we start small. We brew new or experimental beers in “pilot” brewhouses, those that are a fraction of the size of our main brewhouses. It allows us to go a bit mad scientist on a responsible, and downright fun, scale. We have a 10-barrel pilot brewery in Chico and we’re in the midst of dialing in a 20-barrel pilot brewery in Mills River. We’re extra pumped about this because Mills River visitors will see the pilot brewery front and center in our Taproom and Restaurant, slated to open in early 2015.
As they walk in, visitors will stroll between the brewhouse and the fermentation tanks. The beers on tap? Most of them will have been made mere feet from the bar—that’s local, right there! Learn more about the installation of the pilot brewhouse.
Early December release. Will be available in Chico and Mills River Gift Shops.
Sugar plums grown and harvested at the Abbey of New Clairvaux go toward our dark and complex Ovila Abbey Quad with Plums. This collaboration beer brims with caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. Learn more about the beer and, if you like to cook, give this Ovila-infused vinaigrette a try.
