Epic Brewing Releasing Old Sage Brett, Santa Cruz Brown & Blue Law Porter

rom Epic Brewing:

Old Sage Brett

Released today 12/12 - This year’s very limited release of Old Sage Brett was aged in the same barrels as the previous release but instead of filling them with Utah Sage Saison we used the Golden Saison that serves as the base for Elder Brett. The resulting beer has a subtle but persistent herbal character with an increased Brettanomyces funk. The complex aroma is well-cellared and includes dandelion, green apple skin, and wet clay. The initial sip is expectedly sour but it fades quickly to a semi-sweet grain finish.

Santa Cruz Brown

Already on the shelves - Santa Cruz is the perfect winter beer for hop lovers. It combines the rich backbone and deep color of a brown ale with robust American hops typical of IPAs. Maris Otter Pale Malt, Munich, and Chocolate Malts create a balance between sweet and roasty that is then assaulted by four varieties of Pacific Northwest hops including super high alpha acid variety Apollo in the hop-back.

Blue Law Porter

Releases next Friday 12/19- Blue Law Porter is back! This special porter is brewed with Spruce tips picked from Capitol Hill and blended with blackberries. You will pick up the fruit on the nose first but as it warms it gives way to darker notes of chocolate and sweet tobacco. The body is light and balanced between dried fruit and roasted malt, punctuated with a light floral zest from the Spruce tips. The beer finishes clean and slightly sweet but as the Spruce builds up on your palate you’ll begin to notice hints of resin and lemon in the aftertaste.
