SANTA FE, NM- The Santa Fe Brewing Company will debut the Double White IPA as the first release in their Ever Changing Series of limited edition beers available statewide in New Mexico. The Double White IPA, available starting September 26, 2014, is a strong contender in the style, weighing in at 10% ABV and boasting generous amounts of malted white wheat in the mash. We added both bitter and sweet orange peel to this brew resulting in an evident, yet not overpowering, citrus quality. The orange peel pairs perfectly with the Belgian Wit Yeast variety that remains in the bottle of this unfiltered ale. A unique hop variety from South Africa (called J-17) was used, in combination with well known North American hops, to provide complex aromas and medium-strong bitterness.
This beer pours amber/gold into the glass with a crisp white head. The complex citrus and tropical fruit aromas come from both the orange peel and a calculated dry hopping regiment. Refreshing and effervescent, tangy yet smooth, the Belgian yeast adds slight acidity that pairs well with the remaining malt sugars. Beginning with sweet orange on the palate, this beer seamlessly transitions to notes of pineapple and passion fruit. This complex ale moves on to a medium-dry and appropriately bitter finish to round out the experience.
The Ever Changing Series (or ECS) was founded as a creative outlet for the company’s brewers. Because each style is created in such limited batches, the brewers of the ECS can experiment with unique ingredients and continually give their consumer something new. The ECS will consist of limited edition beers released quarterly and will only be distributed in our home state of New Mexico. These finely crafted ales and lagers are packaged in 750ml champagne bottles, hand labeled, and dipped in colored wax respective to the beer style. The label design is interactive with the intent that the consumer will share and compare the finished product with other beer ECS enthusiasts.
On Friday, September 26 at 4:00pm, The Santa Fe Brewing Co will host a release party for the Double White IPA at it’s main brewery tasting room at 35 Fire Place, off Highway 14.
