I know it’s not exactly “beer” news but I thought you want to see what one of our favorite breweries is doing on their “Spirit side.” This from Ballast Point:
It’s the middle of August, the dog days of summer… for many of us, that means vacation time. Time to take a break from the grind, rest up, and get in some sun and fun.
In the spirit of being well-rested, we’re introducing a new product: Barrel-Rested Old Grove Gin. This is our Old Grove Gin with a tan—it has taken a 50-day siesta in a virgin charred American oak barrel, which gives it a golden hue and a nice smoky finish.
It’s a unique spirit, and that includes the name. We call it “Barrel-Rested” because Uncle Sam won’t let us advertise a gin as barrel-aged. But really, who wouldn’t rather be rested than aged?
It’ll be hitting store shelves over the next few weeks – pick some up and try out a few cocktails: sub it in for your standard gin & tonic, or it makes a killer negroni.
Meanwhile, if you are in San Diego on vacation (or staycation), we’re got a fun event coming up next weekend. On Sunday the 24th, we’re hosting another beer dinner at Little Italy – this one will be a casual stand-up affair – go at your own pace on our patio with 5 food stations and some incredible beer pairings to match. Details here.
Cheers!
