From Moylan’s:

Moylan’s Brewery announced today the release of their newest beer, Lonely Tarts Club. This cherry sour is made with both sweet and sour cherries, fermented with three Belgian yeast strains, and soured with Lactobacillus. A very light use of German Brewer and East Kent Goldings hops balances out this Belgian-style sour. Lonely Tarts Club comes in at 5.3% ABV and is making its debut at the famous Northern California brewery just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Brewmaster Derek Smith commented, “I’ve always been a fan of Flemish red/brown beers and I have experimented with this style in the past, so I was excited to introduce a sour to Moylan’s. I wanted that tart cherry pie like flavor in the beer without a lot of acetic flavor. It was certainly a challenge to achieve a true sour’s characteristics in our relatively small brewpub but I’m very happy with what we were able to make. Lonely Tarts Club gives you that tart nose, slight puckering and tingling sensation on the tongue. The flavors of cherries are there but it’s not overwhelming.”

Founder Brendan Moylan commented, “Sours are becoming more and more popular in the craft brewing community. We thought an amazing new cherry sour would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. It’s great for celebrating with a sweetheart but also has enough of a kick to help you forget all about any ex. We think it will be a great addition to our craft beer lineup. Pucker up!”

Lonely Tarts Club is available by draft at Moylan’s Brewery for a limited time.
