PHILADELPHIA, PA – From Friday, May 30 until Sunday, June 8, brewers and beer lovers will converge on Philadelphia, “America’s Best Beer Drinking City”™, for the seventh annual Philly Beer Week™ (PBW) 2014. This year marks the first PBW with the official slogan of “America’s Best Beer Drinking City,”™ a long-time descriptor of the 10-day event that was recently acknowledged as the official moniker of, “Philly Beer Week”™, by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
“Once again, we’re thrilled to welcome beer lovers from around the country and around the world to Philadelphia for a memorable 10-day extravaganza of craft beers and brewing,” says PBW Co-Founder and Counsel Tom Peters. “With one-of-a-kind beers brewed just for the week to a never-ending calendar of fun and zany beer-themed events, there is simply nothing quite like Philly Beer Week.”™
Established in 2008, it’s the largest beer celebration of its kind in the United States, featuring hundreds of festivals, dinners, tours, pub crawls, tastings and meet-the-brewer nights throughout greater Philadelphia. PBW highlights the region’s diverse beer scene – its world-class breweries, neighborhood taverns, trend-setting restaurants and rich beer culture and history.
For first-time and returning participants, the PBW Board will hold their annual PBW General Assembly on Tuesday, January 21 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at SugarHouse Casino’s Refinery Restaurant. PBW 2014 Chairman Will Reed and Peters will be on hand to explain the process of participating in PBW 2014 and answer questions from bar owners, restaurateurs, brewers, chefs and other interested parties. The participation fee scale will also be addressed in detail, along with a history of PBW and some of the things that make Philadelphia America’s Best Beer Drinking City.™
“The General Assembly is a must for anyone who is considering being a part of PBW,” says Reed. “You’ll learn what we’re all about and how joining us for PBW can promote what you and your business do both during the festival and throughout the year.”
Some of that promotion will come from long-time PBW partner Philadelphia Weekly, a leading alternative weekly paper that has long supported PBW’s mission of bringing beer lovers together in the city with diverse, exciting events. PW will once again print and distribute the PBW Sampler, a comprehensive printed guide to PBW events and happenings that has become known as the quintessential way to plot out an agenda during the hundreds of PBW parties, dinners and more.
