I Was lucky enough to get a chance to sample a new beer from Pizza Boy Brewing. I can tell you that this beer was another amazing creation from our pal Terry Hawbaker, but I’m really excited to report that this beer goes way beyond just being a great beer. As you can tell by the name, Dollars For Diabetes Blueberry Sour is a beer created in support of a great cause. Having witnessed the effects of Diabetes first hand, I can tell you it’s a really great to see anyone supporting the cause.
Dollars for Diabetes is a great beer. With the subtle blueberry flavors layered on top of the tart and sour twang of the brew and the really unique funk delivered courtesy of the Brettanomyces, this beer is loaded with complexity and flavor. Be sure to stop by Pizza Boy and try it for yourself….and be sure to try more than one so we can all send some cash to a really worthy cause.

The KDKC is a place where children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes can come and just be kids for a week. In their everyday lives, they live in the minority - there are usually very few kids in their peer groups who also have diabetes. Because of this, they have to take time out of activities because of blood sugar or medication demands - at camp, everyone has these needs, so no one gets left out.
Camp operates like a normal camp while incorporating diabetes management into our schedule. This hopefully reinforces the idea that diabetes management does not have to be an overwhelming obstacle - you can go rock climbing, shoot archery and check your blood glucose without issue.
Camp in itself is a very exciting place to be - to be part of a community for a week where everyone wants to have fun non-stop is a very special thing. Camp Victory as a camp site offers a lot of incredible amenities to facilitate our week - to name a few - a stage for our talent show, some great ropes course features for our cabins to tackle as teams, an amazing nature center and great wide open spaces for our activities, including sports and camp-wide games.
The camp is going to be June 15-20 at Camp Victory in Millville, PA.
