From DC Brau & DC United Soccer:
D.C. United, in collaboration with DC Brau Brewing Company, LLC, today announced that their D.C. United themed beer, The Tradition, will now be available in limited edition 12 oz. cans. Fans will have the opportunity to vote on the can design of their choice (three design options below).
Previously only available on tap at the club’s official bar partners, DC Brau created three original can designs that Black-and-Red fans will have to choose from, with the winning can being released in February of 2014 in preparation for the upcoming Major League Soccer season. Voting opens today, Dec. 16, and will run through Friday, Dec. 20.
“As we look to build a home right here in the District of Columbia it is rewarding to work with local craft-brewers DC Brau to create a product truly unique to this city and team,” said D.C. United Marketing Manager Andrew Minucci. “I look forward to seeing these club-themed cans being responsibly enjoyed in Lot 8.”
“I’m just so excited to tailgate with CANS of The Tradition,” said DC Brau CEO Brandon Skall. “Truly something any United fan can be proud of.”
The Tradition will be re-released in retail locations around the District of Columbia, participating bars and restaurants, the DC Brau Brewery and at the Black-and-Red’s home opener at RFK Stadium.
“I am very excited to have an offering like “The Tradition” that will help garner new craft beer consumer crossovers due to its easy drinkability and at the same time will make new D.C. United fans while giving some needed match day fuel to existing club supporters,” said DC Brau President and Head Brewer Jeff Hancock.
United and DC Brau first announced the craft beer partnership on May 15 with a “Brand the Brew ” contest that allowed fans to submit names for the one-of-a-kind brew. On June 6, Donald Wine II’s submission of The Tradition was selected by members of the Black-and-Red as the official winner of the contest.
