From Ballast Point:
A couple weeks ago, we introduced the first beer brewed out of our pilot system at Little Italy. “Little India” Pale Ale is a play on the name of our new neighborhood, the street we are located (India St.), and the style of beer—American-Style IPA. The recipe contains four types of hops (German Northern Brewer, Palisade, Spalt, and Columbus) plus a mix of Italian herbs – basil, lemon thyme, and majoram.
Since then, these seven fermentors have been hard at work as we created “deconstructed” versions of the recipe – single hopped, single malt, all the spices, no spices....this is what R&D brewing is all about!
On Friday at 5pm, Ballast Point Little Italy will be tapping seven versions of our deconstructed Little India Pale Ale:
Little India Pale Ale with all four hops, Basil, Lemon Thyme and Marjoram
Little India Pale Ale made with 100% Northern Brewer Hops (single hopped, no spices)
Little India Pale Ale made with 100% Palisade Hops (single hopped, no spices)
Little India Pale Ale made with 100% Spalt Hops (single hopped, no spices)
Little India Pale Ale made with 100% Columbus Hops (single hopped, no spices)
Little India Pale Ale made with 100% Vienna Malt (single malt with all four hops and no spices)
Little India Pale Ale with all four hops and no spices
And for today, our cask offering was created by Senior Brewer Alex Culver and Quality Analyst Lauren Zeidler: Calico Amber with raspberry, vanilla, and peppercorn. As usual, pouring at all three locations all day.
