TTB Shutdown Delays Heavy’ Seas $3 Million Packaging Line

We’ve seen a number of breweries affected by the government shutdown of the TTB while we all watch the congressional Broadway Play in action.  Label approvals are halted, and meanwhile beer releases approach and brewing schedules are getting screwed by this mess…but one brewery has an even larger problem caused by the TTB delay… Heavy Seas.  Details from the Baltimore Sun:

For Hugh Sisson, owner of Heavy Seas Beer in Halethorpe, the shutdown's timing has postponed the implementation of a new $3 million piece of equipment that packages and labels the beer. The new machine requires a different size label, and all new labels must be approved by the federal bureau.

Sisson said that he'll be able to continue using his old equipment until the new labels are approved.
