This morning we get to see the label for an exciting Connecticut collaboration beer from Relic Brewing and Beer’d Brewing. This Belgian Black Rye IPA will be named The Nano-A-Nano, it will be packaged in 22oz bottles and use Simcoe & Columbus Hops. The beer was inspired by Craft Brew Guy and here are the official details from him:
Mark Sigman of Relic Brewing & Aaren Simoncini of Beer’d Brewing are proud to announce a very unique collaboration, cleverly named Nano-A-Nano. A Belgian Black Rye IPA, Nano-A-Nano will come in at approximately 7% ABV and feature ingredients such as Rye, Black Prinz huskless roasted barley, Simcoe & Columbus hops, and Trappist Ale yeast.
This collaborative effort was initiated by local craft beer enthusiast, CraftBrewGuy, several months ago on Twitter (see initial Tweets below). An advocate of the growing craft scene in Connecticut, CraftBrewGuy’s idea to have the states two nano-breweries collaborate was well received. Having personally reached out to Mark and Aaren, the idea took hold as the brewers spent nearly two hours discussing potential recipes and styles as well as concept. The name Nano-A-Nano is of course a play on Mano-A-Mano, with reference to them representing the small batch brewers with big reputations in Connecticut. Relic Brewing has established itself a great reputation with its creative Belgian styled beers, and similarly Beer’d Brewing has earned a reputation for fresh, bold hoppy IPA’s. As a side note, Beer’d Brewing will be celebrating its One Year Anniversary on Saturday, November 9th.
Nano-A-Nano will be brewed in 2 separate batches, one at each respective brewery utilizing the same recipe. A special release party will be held at Relic Brewing in Plainville in the coming weeks, where both batches can be enjoyed, the exact date is TBD. A limited number of bottles will be sold onsite at the event. Here is to local collaboration, and to similar endeavors in the future.
The label reads “Inspired by CraftBrewGuy, this collaboration beer celebrates the strengths of our small but artful breweries. Belgian yeasts, rye and blackprinz malts and loads of Simcoe and Columbus hops combine to create a resinous, spicy and toasty libation with a hint of chocolate.”
