From Blue Point Brewery:
PATCHOGUE, NY – October 22, 2013 Blue Point Brewing Company is launching a month-long campaign to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer and other men’s health issues through the international Movember movement. During November each year, Movember is responsible for men growing moustaches all over the world. Proudly cultivating their “Mo’s” (slang for moustache), these brave men and their supporters raise vital awareness and money for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives through organized teams and individuals.
Blue Point topped all participating breweries in the country last year, with the team raising more than $15,000 for the cause. The “Smooth Start to Movember” kicks off in the brewery tasting room on November 1st where Mo Bros can join the brew crew in shaving to start the month off, then enjoy moustache party favors and discounted pints for all participants. Prizes including Blue Point beer and merchandise will be awarded at the end of the month for the team’s Top Fundraiser, Best Overall Moustache, Miss Movember, and other fun categories. The brewery will also match a percentage of total funds raised by team members this year.
Mark Burford, Blue Point’s Brewmaster and Co-founder said, “We’re encouraging everyone from staff to tasting room regulars and folks all over the community to put down their razors, pick up a pint, and join the cause.” Adds Blue Point President, Pete Cotter, “Beer drinkers have been using their moustaches to help sop up suds for centuries. This is an opportunity to join the practical with the charitable act of fighting prostate cancer while having a little fun – and let’s face it, looking a little more macho – in the process.”
