Red Hook / Hilliard’s Co-Brewed “Joint Effort” Uses a Bong As a Tap Handle

imageFrom Draft Magazine:

Here’s what the tap handle for the upcoming Redhook-Hilliard’s collaboration Joint Effort looks like: A shiny, yellow bong. The beer was brewed to celebrate the passing of Initiative 502, which legalized possession and use of marijuana in Washington State. According to the press release, Joint Effort is a “session ale brewed with hemp seeds. Dry-hopped with Zeus, Cascade, Summit hops.” The new beer officially launches during a party at Hilliard’s Beer, Saturday, July 20. Both breweries recommend you come with your “best buds.” I think, in this case, they mean friends.

Craziest tap handle ever? Craziest tap handle so far.

Update 15 July 2013:  We have the actual label (above) now and the the release will be part of the Redhook Blueline Series of beers.  Look for Joint Effort to be release in 22oz bottles on 7/15.  From Redhook:  in addition to hemp seed the beer will have Zeus, Cascade, Summit hops (ABV 5.6%, IBU 25), and will have a ”dank, resinous hop aroma balanced by nutty, earthiness from hemp seeds”. Redhook claims that it’s “the perfect brew for hanging with your buds, grabbing some munchies and enjoying a beer.”
