An exciting new co-brew coming from Half Acre and New Belgium called 2023m3 Soft Sour Ale. Details from Half Acre:
In the late 90's before getting this brewery going, Matt and I lived out in Colorado. Being a kid, running around the mountains and the towns that sit in them was good, rowdy fun. At that time, New Belgium Brewing Co was digging in and making themselves a big part of the craft brewing movement in this country. For me, Fat Tire and Sunshine Wheat were beers that were synonymous with life in Colorado and outside culture, but hadn't yet spanned the greater market. Today New Belgium's beers have become part of the national landscape and represent what's possible when good people make their own keys to the castle.
It's with great pleasure that we collaborate with New Belgium Brewing Co on two beers. Each beer is motivated by the visiting brewery. So we brewed a beer driven by New Belgium here at Half Acre. Early next month we fly to Colorado to brew a Half Acre inspired beer at New Belgium.
The first, 2023m2, brewed at Half Acre last month, is a soft sour ale that features the delicate complexity of a well designed New Belgium beer. A partial kettle souring process and light use of Maresh and Sumac all lend an equal hand in delivering a full experience. The numerical name ties into the area measurement of an actual Half Acre. Our hope, though, is to again brew together in the year 2023 and send that beer to the first group of people living on Mars. This project is underway and if all goes well, some wild folks will be living on the red planet. They're going to need some beer.
***Lately you might notice a pretty consistent space theme with our beers. This is an odd coincidence. We're not space nerds, but recently there's been good reason to thematically use outer space in our beers. We're trying to work away from it, but space keeps drawing us back in.
