Forget what you have been told about judging a book by its cover; Eel River Brewing Company’s Cali Pale Ale is more than worthy of its striking screen printed label. Designed by Denver illustrator Nick Wagner, the artwork represents carefree fun & happiness, a perfect fit for this session beer.
Cali Pale Ale’s label is the result of a 2012 collaboration between Eel River Brewing Company and RAW Natural Born Artists, a worldwide artisan community. Together, they generated a beer label contest and the submissions came pouring in. There were several fantastic entries but Wagner’s panel van road tripping down a palm tree lined boulevard, complete with a California blue sky sunset scene, stood out and was chosen as the winner.
Cali Pale Ale made its debut on tap at the Eel River Brewing pub in 2012, quickly becoming a house favorite. Light in color, crisp, and ready for summer, Cali Pale Ale had beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike requesting bottle availability. Cali Pale Ale’s use of aromatic dry hopping with Simcoe and Citra hops leads to floral notes of citrus and tropical fruits. At 4.8% and 38 IBUs, with a work of art screen printed on the 22 ounce bottle, Cali Pale Ale is the beer of summer.
