We brought you this news already, but now Terrapin makes it official with the press release:
Athens, GA- May 9, 2013/mbb/
Terrapin Beer Co. welcomes the start of summer with the release of Maggie's Peach Farmhouse Ale, a new Seasonal Sessions beer that both revamps a previous Side Project (Vol. 7, Maggie's Farmhouse Ale) and pays homage to that fuzzy fruit of the South: peaches.
With Terrapin "born and raised" in the South, creating a traditional Belgian summer beer with a bit of Southern flair made perfect sense. "There's nothing more Southern than peaches and farms," commented brewmaster Brian "Spike" Buckowski. "So a peach farmhouse it is!"
Each 100 BBL batch of Maggie's Peach Farmhouse Ale contains 1,000 lbs. of peaches; this breaks down to 3.2 lbs. of peaches per gallon! The majority of the peaches were sourced from Pearson Farm in Fort Valley, GA. Pearson Farm has been in operation for over 100 years and currently grows 30 varieties of peaches on 1,400 acres along with 15 varieties of pecans on 2,300 acres.
Malts: 2-Row Pale, Munich, Wheat, Acidulated
Hops: US Golding
ABV: 5.3%
IBU: 22
OG: 11.5
Maggie's Peach Farmhouse Ale has the flavor and aroma of a freshly picked peach combined with the complexity of a well-executed farmhouse ale; expect a perfect balance of sweet and sour that will make this beer the ideal palate-cleanser for those sweltering summer days.
Maggie's Peach Farmhouse Ale will be available in late May in kegs (1/6 BBL and 1/2 BBL) and in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles within Terrapin's ten-state distribution network.
