Drake’s To Distribute In San Diego & New 120bbl Tanks Arriving

Some good news coming from Drakes as they announce a partnership with 2 San Diego County distributors and they show off the new tanks as they arrive at the brewery.  Details from Drakes:

We may be up in the Bay Area, but we do love us some San Diego. Sure, we have a nice view of palm trees from the brewery, but they're actually in the parking lot of a nearby Walmart, so it's not quite the same as being on a sandy Southern California beach (though we're sure the smells of salt water & hot wort must combine into something truly… well, memorable, to be sure).

Therefore, we are quite happy to announce our partnerships with two new San Diego County distributors-- Craft Beer Guild Distributing and Markstein Beverage Co. We could bore you with the minutiae of the three-tier system, but what this means is that we get to send more of our hop-forward, west-coast style ales down to San Diego & North County far more reliably than we've been able to before.

To honor this occasion, and because we all can get down with a good SD trip, a slew of us (owners John Martin and Roy Kirkorian, Lead Brewer Alexandra Nowell, Marketing Director Kelsey Williams, Sales Manager Dow Tunis, and SoCal Sales Manager Chris Elmes) will be heading down next week. SD folks: Make sure to come by Hamilton's Tavern on Saturday night, March 9th for a tap takeover, with 12 Drake's taps (including 3 barrel-aged beers), two firkins, and a full Irish Breakfast-for-dinner menu. Come on out, hang with us, have a beer, see what we're up to these days, and get geared up for more Drake's in your life from now on.

Serious Tankage- Even More Beer

Well, this was a fine sight to see upon arriving to the brewery. We've grown a lot in the past few years, and demand is consistently rising to the challenge of our growing capacity. Still, we think, with this addition of three new 120 barrel fermenters and one 120 barrel bright tank, we will have managed to make some headway in the expansion department.

As it stands now our full roster of stainless steel to a 20bbl mash tun, a 25 barrel brew kettle, three 120bbl fermenters, three 80bbl fermenters, seven 60bbl fermenters, eight 20bbl fermenters, and six 15bbl fermenters, one 120bbl bright tank, one 80bbl bright, one 60bbl bright, and two 20bbl brights. This'll bring our total current capacity up to 26,250 barrels a year, and allow us to pump out nearly 20,000 barrels in 2013 (California sure does like its beer).
