Cascade Brewing - Chocolate Cherry Casanova Today, The Vine 2012 Release Postponed

From Cascade Brewing:

Hello friends! Tonight's Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is LIVE: Chocolate Cherry Casanova. This lightly soured barrel aged beer was aged 80+ days in a Heaven Hill Bourbon barrel on organic cocoa nibs and organic black mission figs, then blended with spiced cherry beer - just for  Valentine's Day. Aromas of dark sweet chocolate and cherries are the first to be noticed. Flavors of dark Belgian chocolate, sweet Bourbon and cherries dance on the palate, then lead to a silky chocolate and cherry finish. This one has "Be Mine" written all over it! 7.2% ABV, 20 IBUs, $7 glass, $2.50 taster.

The Vine 2012 release that was supposed to take place this Thursday has been postponed due to a labeling error; as soon as it is fixed, we will let you know.

We still have Barrels for sale at the Barrel House from 9-5 daily (except Tuesdays from 9-3). 53 gal Bourbon barrels cost $20, cash only. These are best used for rain barrels, and sorry, they do not come filled!

Today, we finished roasting the last of 500 lbs of white & orange Cinderella pumpkins for Pumpkin Smash, which will be bottled & kegged later this fall. This is a time consuming process, as only 50 lbs fit in the oven at any one time. To the right is the before and after. We are also gingering the next version of the Honey Ginger Lime for release on draft in the late spring. We're working with our 2012 apricots, which are literally bursting to come out. And, we are working on a MINI batch of a draft only version of Chocolate Bourbonic Plague - two great tastes that taste great together!

Zwickelmania is this Saturday, Feb. 16
! This statewide event offers visitors a chance to tour Oregon breweries, meet the brewers and sample their favorite beers. The Barrel House will be open at 10 am, one hour earlier than the official Zwickelmania start time, so that you can either start here or plan to end here. We will NOT be doing anything at the Raccoon Lodge: all of the brewers will be on the production side of the Barrel house serving beers from the barrels. We will be running a limited menu from open until approximately 6PM, after which we will return to the full menu; weekly specials will not be available during that time period, although Beer Cheese soup and Clam Chowder will be available.

Fruit Fest will start on Thursday Feb. 28th at 4:30 pm and go through Sunday or until the beers run out. The taps will be returned to normal Monday morning. We will be talking over nearly all the taps of the Cascade Brewing Barrel House with our own tart fruit beers (plus a Pale and an IPA for the new to sour folks). Look for more than two dozen beers to rotate through the taps during the weekend. The official draft list should be available next week, but here are a few to get you in the mood...Figaro, Fruit Loops, Bourbon Barrel Aged Fruit, Blueberry Bourbonic Plague & Cinnamon Quad. Taster prices are $2 (more for the few ultra rare beers).
