From Cascade Brewing:
Hello friends! If you're in town, then you're in for a treat: tonight's Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is LIVE:The Bourbonic Plague 2011. This NW style sour ale is a spiced double porter that was aged 24 months in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels with Bahri dates, Bourbon vanilla beans and Thai cinnamon. Complex aromas of dark malts and spices combine with sweet vanillin and notes of Bourbon and leather. Sweet vanilla, dark fruits and Bourbon come together and reveal themselves with notes of dates, oak, leather and tobacco on the palate. Tart dark fruits and a warming Bourbon flavor finish this off as only Bourbonic can. 12% ABV, $8 glass (8 oz pour) or $3 taster.
Also tonight, the entire brew staff will be at the Green Dragon to support Brewer Jon Berry; his Oblique Coffee Blond was named to Willamette Week's list of Top 10 beers and tonight is the celebration. We're heading over at 5pm, coming back to the Barrel House at 6pm for Tap It Tuesday, then returning to the Green Dragon by 7pm when Willamette Week will reveal its choice for the number one beer - keep your fingers crossed, and better yet, join us for the party!
The Vine 2012 will be released this Thursday, Feb. 21st at 4:30pm at the Barrel House, the Raccoon Lodge and online. Price is $20 per 750ml bottle and there is no limit. The Vine 2012 is a blend of Blond and Wheat ales that were barrel aged for up to 12 months before aging on fresh pressed white grape must for an additional three months. Online sales are available at http://shop.cascadebrewingbarrelhouse.com.
We still have Bourbon barrels for sale at the Barrel House from 9-5 daily (except Tuesdays from 9-3). 53 gal Bourbon barrels cost $20, cash only. These are best used for rain barrels, and sorry, they do not come filled!
Here's some big news: Rate Beer has named Cascade Brewing Barrel House as the Top Brewpub in Oregon! We are thrilled to be recognized and be held in such high regard. Thanks to all of you for supporting us. See the entire list here: http://www.ratebeer.com/RateBeerBest/BestPlaces-State.asp
New on tap at the Barrel House is Saison Grand, a super Saison aged in chardonnay barrels for four months then cold conditioned in stainless for another four. 10.7%, draft only. This will be available at the Raccoon Lodge later this week. In other beer news, Bourbonic Plague is bottle conditioning as we speak; look for a release in late March or early April. It will be released online the same day it is released at the Barrel House and the Brewery. We are also transferring the Apricot off the fruit and will be bottling the 2012 version soon.
Next Monday, Feb. 25, Head Blender Preston Weesner will be in Seattle for the release of Bottleworks 14th Anniversary Beer at 11am. Bottleworks approached us to create a new blend they could call their own. The result is a NW style sour ale that is a blend of Blond Quad and Blond ales that were aged in Bourbon, wine and rum barrels with orange zest for up to 24 months. Bottles will go on sale as soon as they open and will last until they run out. We will also have a VERY limited amount of Bottleworks at the Barrel House only, which will go on sale when we open at Noon on Monday. There will be a yet to be determined limit per person and the price has not been set.
Fruit Fest will start next Thursday, Feb. 28th at 4:30pm and go through Sunday or until the beers run out. The taps will be returned to normal Monday morning. We will be talking over nearly all the taps of the Cascade Brewing Barrel House with our own tart fruit beers (plus a Pale and an IPA for the new to sour folks). Look for more than two dozen beers to rotate through the taps during the weekend. The official draft list should be available next week, but here are a few to get you in the mood...Figaro, Fruit Loops, Bourbon Barrel Aged Fruit, Blueberry Bourbonic Plague & Cinnamon Quad. Taster prices are $2 (more for the few ultra rare beers).
