Some exciting events coming from iron Hill:
CHESTNUT HILL, PA – This month, head brewer Paul Rutherford of Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (8400 Germantown Avenue, 215-948-5600) will host two exciting beer-driven events: his Fire & Ice Beer Release Party, featuring two “fire-inspired” and two “ice-inspired” original new beers; and a seasonal Brewmaster’s Dinner featuring wintry beers and hearty, comforting cuisine. These events are a perfect opportunity for new King of the Hill members to get to know their head brewer, and also a great time for would-be members to enroll in the extravagant new rewards program for Iron Hill fans, introduced in late 2012.
“During the winter months, we love to stay warm with full-bodied beers and rich comfort foods,” says Rutherford. “Our Fire & Ice Release Party and Brewmaster’s Dinner are perfect ways for our guests to join us and celebrate our favorite things: great food and great beer.”
Fire & Ice Release Party
On Friday, January 11 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Rutherford will host the Fire & Ice Release Party, featuring four special beers: Fire-Inspired Smoked Weizenbock, an amber-colored, full-bodied ale with banana and clove flavors and smoked character from malt smoked on beechwood chips; Fire-Inspired Rauchbier, a Bamburg, Germany-style amber lager made with beechwood smoked malt for a smoky aroma and flavor; Ice-Inspired Rasputin’s Revenge, a very special version of their full-bodied stout; and Ice-Inspired Hopsicle, a higher gravity version of an American IPA brewed entirely with pilsner malt and the Japanese hop variety Sorachi Ace, plus citrus-y and pine-y American hops. Beers will be available on a pay-as-you-go basis, and King of the Hill members will enjoy special complimentary food pairings with each beer.
Brewmaster’s Dinner
Then, on Tuesday, January 29 beginning at 7 p.m., Rutherford will host his Brewmaster’s Dinner, featuring five courses from Executive Sous Chef Jared Cannon, plus beer pairings with each course. For $65 per person, including beverages, tax and gratuity, guests will enjoy:
- Firecracker Jumbo Shrimp with sweet potato, Swiss chard and citrus butter sauce, paired with Belgian Pale Ale, a medium-bodied, copper-colored Belgian-style session ale;
- Rye Bread-Crusted Diver Scallops with braised oxtrail rigatoni and natural reduction, paired with Constanza, an amber-colored ale which is brewed with a significant portion of rye malt and spiced with caraway seeds that results in a bready malt center with a dry spicy finish;
- 21-Hour Short Rib Spring Roll with smoked plantain puree and roasted tomato salad, paired with Smoked Weizenbock, an amber-colored, full-bodied ale with banana and clove flavors and smoked character from malt smoked on beechwood chips;
- (Intermezzo) Berliner Weiss Sorbet with lemon, sea salt and liquid nitrogen;
- Petite Filet Mignon with melted gorgonzola cheese, Lyonnaise potatoes, mushroom duxelle and mocha cream, paired with Russian Imperial Stout, a full-bodied stout with complex character and wonderful balance;
- and Trio of Cherry Cheesecake Truffles with graham cracker, bing cherry jam and dark chocolate, paired with Funkadelic Cherry Brown Ale, a chocolate-y English-style brown ale aged on 350 pounds of dark sweet cherries, then aged in a red wine barrel with wild yeasts for one year.
Both events are a terrific opportunity for new King of the Hill members to enjoy their expanded rewards program: Lower Membership Price of just $25 for new and renewing members; More Ways to Earn Points, including points for both visits and purchases; Faster Rewards such as $25 for every 250 points accumulated; Companion Cards, the option to link a second rewards card to an existing account; Free Gifts for members on their birthdays; Signature Handmade Mugs for use in all Iron Hill locations; Invitations to Club-Only Events such as tastings and parties; Direct Contact via email with head brewers; and Online Point Tracking and member profile to further customize the experience.
