Our pal Dale Katechis gave us this very update when we interviewed him a week or so ago, but now we have even more evidence that Oskar Blues will be the first of the North Carolina brewery expansions to brew and open their doors. With New Belgium and Sierra Nevada all aiming for 2013, Dale is on track to brew his first beer on 12/12/12 and open their doors in time for New Years Eve 2012. Details from Blue Ridge Now:
Now, Oskar Blues is bringing its unabashed irreverence to Western North Carolina, as the opening of its East Coast expansion facility in Brevard is exactly one month away. The company plans to launch its first production run on Dec. 12 – 12/12/12 – and a grand opening for the public is slated for Dec. 31 with a New Year's celebration.
On Tuesday, Oskar Blues will unveil its new digs at 342 Mountain Industrial Drive with a media tour as workers continue to assemble the new canning line. Meanwhile, the company announced Thursday on Facebook that its new brewing tanks have arrived, and also last week named a North Carolina marketing team.
Oskar Blues Marketing Director Chad Melis said the company plans to brew about 40,000 barrels — or 1.2 million gallons — of beer in 2013 at the 30,000 square-foot Brevard plant.
