It looks like beer will be rolling off the canning line earlier than expected at the new Oskar Blues Brevard, NC facility. This from the CitizenTimes:
Brewing equipment should arrive in early November, and Oskar Blues should be cranking out Dale’s Pale Ale and its other beers before the year is over, said brewery spokesman Chad Mellis. That is one quick build, but Oskar Blues can pull it off, Melis said. The company expects to produce about 40,000 barrels of beer in Brevard in 2013, he said.
By comparison, Sierra Nevada’s big new brewery in Mills River looks to be making beer by late 2013 or early 2014, and New Belgium will be making beer in Asheville by 2015. But those are both very different projects involving the ground-up construction of breweries. And New Belgium must first do some serious site preparation at the old Asheville stockyards site in the River Arts District.
