LOVELAND - There is a new Loveland brewery in the works that thrives on making beer with “forbidden” ingredients.
The new nanobrewery, which is launching with a three barrel system, is called Verboten Brewery and could be serving beers as soon as this fall, as they file for their federal license this week.
The new brewery, run by two couples Josh and Angie Grenz and Joe and Keri Akers, all from Fort Collins, will brew beers that use ingredients verboten, or forbidden, under the German purity law that allows for water, barley and hops.
Josh Grenz and Joe Akers, active homebrewers and members of the WeizGuys Loveland Homebrew Club, and said they are excited to offer some more experimental beers on their rotating taps.
The brewery will focus on non-traditional beers such as strawberry rhubarb wheat, lemongrass wit, caramel cream stout and barrel-aged beers.
