Yes that may sounds funny, but the dailycamera.com is reporting that Dale Katechis of Oskar Blues is looking into a recently closed Butterball Turkey plan in Longmont, CO as a potential site for the permanent home of Oskar Blues. While it looks like Dale has ruled out the Butterball site, the interesting point here is that Oskar Blues is actively looking for a new & permanent location.
For the full details…
So while one can look at the site today and imagine what might be, there is one thing that it won't be: the future, permanent headquarters of Oskar Blues Brewery.
When he read about Butterball closing, Oskar's owner Dale Katechis got in touch with Butterball and toured the facility. He said he's just about out of room at his current headquarters and was looking for someplace the brewery could settle into permanently.
"My overall takeaway is there's a lot of space, and there would be a lot of work for us to turn it into a brewery," Katechis said last week.
The plant has some of the things a brewery would need -- boilers and chillers, for example -- but the five-floor layout wouldn't work at all, Katechis said, and the facility as a whole has few of the efficiencies a modern facility would enjoy.
And by the way: Katechis said he was told the utility bill was about $450,000 a month
