WILK Friday BeerBuzz–3 Dec 2010 (Breaker Brewing Co Belsnickler)
It’s always fun having friends in the studio, and of course whenever the beerbuzz crew and Breaker Brewing Co crews get together, it’s always fun. Today we welcomed Mark Lehman and Chris Miller from Breaker Brewing Co into the studio to join us in a holiday vertical. So what’s a “vertical?” Well as you heard on the radio today, a vertical tasting is when you sample back to back vintages of the same or similar beers. Today we sampled an aged 2009 Belsnickler Ale side-by-side with a fresh 2010 Belsnickler Ale…and I’m happy to say it was a lot of fun. The Belsnickler sinister santa ale has held up well during the off season and I’m excited to report the 2010 version tastes great as well.
I’m also happy to report that Breaker Brewing Co was the star of the 2010 Split Rock Beer Festival last weekend (11/20-11/21). The lines were long and the excitement generated when they tapped a sixtel of Belsnickler on Sunday was amazing. If you tuned into our video of the day, you also saw the sixtel of Belsnickler lasted only 17 minutes—and that included 2 mins of “quality assurance testing” by the beer buzz and breaker crews.
Be sure to try Belsnickler for yourself.
Thanks
to Chris, Mark, John, Nancy, Joe & Bosco for yet another fun Friday.
The Friday Beerbuzz…bringing good beers and good people together.

If you're looking for an outstanding example of a winter warmer beer, look no further than Breaker Brewing's Belsnickler! You can get it at Krugel's. Another great beer from Chris and Mark, two local guys dedicated to making excellent beers!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to Bill from MyBeerBuzz.com for the vertical tasting, comparing Belsnickler '10 to it's inaugural incarnation from a year ago.
A great show, great beer, and great fun!

ReplyDeleteAmy
We love Breaker Brewing beers. Thanks for having them on the show. Looking forward to Belsnickler 2010. We were 15 mins late at the festival and missed it. Cheers...FUNNY SHOW!
ReplyDeleteWho spilled?!
ReplyDeleteThank you all. The spill was a combination of beer cam, Nancy & the headphone cord...no 3electronics were damaged ;)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the music every week. Good job to Bosco on the Grinch music.
ReplyDeleteMarty
A-pluses buzzers. The spill was funny too.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a great way to eductae beer lovers on how to try different beers from different years. Thank you, my friends think I'm nuts when I do that.
ReplyDeleteSteve W
mmmm Belsnickler!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your beer cam movie.
ReplyDeleteRyan W
Really fun listening today. I like it when there's fun in the studio that we can actually hear. Beer lovers love unpredictability so we'd love to see your bloopers too.
ReplyDeleteJason J
Thank You....BEER CAM is posting as we speak. And Jason...we're LIVE....all bloopers go on the air as you hear them. We didn't plan the spill or the funny intro. I'll agree I love the funny shows too and we promise to mess up again...at least I do ;)
ReplyDeleteWho is the Belsnickler on the bottle?
ReplyDeleteGG
Hmmmm GG??
ReplyDeleteI hear he's a cool Guy, a nice Guy and a local Guy. I also hear he drives a VW!
WHo spilled? I missed the spill?
ReplyDeleteRead back in the comments Anon. We had a little spill. Fortunately it only affected some of our papers....and I'll admit it was fun too. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou guys draw a great line between loving and respecting the beer and not taking it all too seriously. Beer is a social drink and I think what I like best about your show (and you guys are by FAR the best show), is that you make me excited about the beer, you make me want to try the beer and you never make it intimidating to try a new beer. Beer is fun and you guys represent that well. I can't wait to look back in a few years and see how much difference the Friday BeerBuzz made in our local beer market. BIG beer stars in my book.
ReplyDeletePaul (Trucksville)
I could not have put it better Paul. You guys simply make craft beer approachable and for that we salute you. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteMarco
Thank you guys. We do our best to make beer what it should be....Fun!
ReplyDeleteWe missed you last week. I did wake up early on my day off hoping to hear the buzz but alas...no joy. But you made up for it today. Really enjoyable show. On my way to Krugel's now for some Belsnickler.
ReplyDeleteJJ
Amazing that anyone was able to save a 2009 Belsnickler. I'll drink to that. Also amazin that you guys thought to sample them together. I've never heard of a vertical tasting but now I'm pretty excited to try it.
ReplyDeleteAaron H (Mountaintop)
My favorite show so far. Very funny, great local brewers and hosts that know their beers.
ReplyDeleteBeer & poetry!
ReplyDeleteWe'll take credit fo rthe beer...but you'll have to thank Jim Legg for the poetry.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to the beer culture but I'm on my way to Krugel's for some Belsnickler. I met you all at the Split Rock beer fest. Your beers are great your website is fantastic and the radio show rocks. I had no idea how good beer can beer and I'm really glad I stumbled on breaker brewing and the mybeerbuzz. By the way I love your shirts!
ReplyDeleteWhat no Julie Sidoni on the beer buzz!?
ReplyDeleteThanks anon....always exciting to hear a new beer lover discover a new beer. The Breaker Brewing crew did a great job at the festival and we were excited to join them.
ReplyDeleteAnd I did try to get Julie on the show, but she said maybe next time so stay tuned.
fun show buzzers
ReplyDeleteSo I'm hearing that Nancy & Joe know their beers. Perhaps some home experimenting?
ReplyDeleteAustin
Austin...yes both Nancy & Joe are becoming pretty knowledgeable beer lovers...and yes I DO assign homework after the Friday BeerBuzz.
