Brewers Association Seats 2018 Board of DirectorsFrom the Brewers Association:

Boulder, CO  • February 21, 2018—The Brewers Association (BA)—the not-for-profit trade group dedicated to promoting and protecting America’s small and independent craft brewers—announced its 2018 board of directors.

Eric Wallace, co-founder and president, Left Hand Brewing Co. (Longmont, CO), stepped into the role of board chair. He has served on the board in various capacities since 2011.

Additionally, new board members Larry Horwitz, brewmaster at Four String Brewing (Columbus, OH) and Jose Mallea, co-owner of Biscayne Bay Brewing (Miami, FL) were appointed by the BA board of directors as at-large representatives. These at-large appointees serve to increase small brewer representation. Horwitz and Mallea join newly elected brewpub representatives Tim Brady of Whetstone Station (Brattleboro, VT) and Julie Verratti of Denizens Brewing (Silver Spring, MD).

“My term as board chair promises to be a period full of challenges and continuing change, of shifting business models, changing rules and regulations, acquisitions and consolidation,” said Wallace. “This commotion will create opportunities for the BA board and staff to try new ideas, new solutions and new efforts ‘to promote and protect American craft brewers, their beers and the community of brewing enthusiasts.’ I encourage the brewing community to take advantage of the myriad of resources made available by the BA and to join our collective efforts to extend CBMTRA, and to educate consumers about where their beer comes from and how their purchasing decisions impact their communities through supporting the independent craft seal campaign.  I look forward to serving.”
