Raleigh, NC, September 22, 2016 - Mims Distributing Company, a leading wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, announced its partnership with Full Sail Brewing Company. The award-winning brewery has won accolades at various championships, including the World Beer Championships, Great American Beer Festival, and the U.S. Open Beer Championships.
Based out of Hood River, Oregon, Full Sail opened in 1987, within the remnants of an old Diamond Fruit cannery. The brewery began using a manual bottling line, requiring each operation to be completed by hand. Though they no longer use a manual bottling system, they continue their personal touch by crafting their beers by hand, and 99 percent the brewery’s ingredients—barley, yeast, hops and water—come from local sources. Full Sail’s commitment to sustainability earned them recognition by SaveOnEnergy as one of the Green Breweries Across the United States, amongst several other sustainability awards.
Full Sail is committed to sustainability in all its pursuits, including their pledge to water conservation. The company uses less than three gallons of water per gallon of beer produced, compared to the average of six to eight gallons per gallon of beer. Their workweeks are compressed into four 10-hour workdays to reduce power and water consumption by 20 percent. Mims Distributing shares Full Sail’s passion for protecting the environment through their facility design. The distributing company’s two retention ponds, motion activated lighting, and solar panel systems—providing 38 percent of its facility’s power—allows the company to set the bar in sustainability practices.
