Coronado Brewing Sock Knocker IPA - Time To Sample

imageOK Coronado Brewing…it’s official…check your mail I’m sending you my socks….and I think I’m getting the better part of this trade.

I was excited to find a bottle of Coronado Brewing Crown Series Sock Knocker Imperial IPA waiting for me at mybeerbuzz headquarters, and Mrs. BeerBuzz and I couldn’t wait to sample it.

If you’re not familiar with this beer, it’s time to get familiar.  Sock Knocker Imperial IPA is big and bold (as the name would suggest) and it is loaded with the hoppy flavors and aromas I really love.

Take in the aromas and you’ll find a big floral and citrus nose.  Take a sip and you find a citrus and grapefruit boost followed by a lingering piney and sticky finish.  If you’re trying to decipher this complex and hoppy brew, be thinking about Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial and even Columbus hops….and of course you can start thinking 90 IBU as well.  I find it floral and herbal with a nice balance between two of my favorite flavors…..citrus and resinous pine.  So here you go Coronado….take my Socks!

If this wasn’t enough fun. I was lucky enough to have a friend send over his home-smoked Gouda cheese and WOW what a pairing.  I suspect Sock Knocker would work really well with other cheese, but quite honestly we ran out of beer and loved the smoked Gouda pairing.

Sock Knocker Imperial IPA rocks in at 8.5%-AbV and you can find it in April in the 18 states and 7 countries in the Coronado Brewing footprint.  Try this beer….and when you do, be sure to let me know what you think.
