It’s interesting to see how some breweries gain label approval, and today we have a new one….Chimay Speciale Cent Cinquante, and they’re doing it by showing the entire bottle! This new brew is packaged in 750ml cork and caged bottles and this special trappists ale is brewed in celebration of the 150th anniversary of brewing at the Abbey of Scourmont. Oh and by the way it is 10% ABV!
Update: This beer WILL be imported into the US through Manneken-Brussels. About 75,000 bottles will be exported and some will hit the shelves as early as July with more coming later in Sept. 2012.
UPDATE 2:Now this beer will not arrive until Oct.

Where did this image come from? The agents for Chimay have no knowledge of it. They also mentioned that the use of the word 'ale' was not common in their country...?
ReplyDeleteHere's the offical (albeit horribly translated) reply:
"apparently they are informed faster in the USA than in own country
There is probably also called such a bottle in Belgium
but I have not seen them yet
and it is possible that it is another bottle
because of the word "ale"
What is not common in our country"
Can you help unravel the mystery, please?
This is a TTB label approval...applied for and approved.
