I think the writing has been on the wall for weeks…and I’m excited to report that New Belgium Brewing will join the Asheville, North Carolina brewing community….but I’ll admit a little disappointed to report NB will not be heading to Philly. The official announcement will take place later this week, but everyone I’ve heard from that is close to the negotiations is telling me it’s a done deal. With Sierra Nevada already moving into the neighborhood, and with the already rich craft-brewing scene in Asheville, NC; this should be NO surprise to anyone.
More details coming in today…the announcement appears to me coming today or at the latest tomorrow (4/5). The 17.5-acre Western Caroliona Livestock market property located on Craven St is rumored to be under contract with new Belgium and it looks like NC Governor Purdue is in the area today & work to clean up and prepare the property is kicking into high gear.
