Astoria, Queens will have a brewery to call its own with the premiere of SingleCut Beersmiths.
The brewery, at 19-33 37th St in Astoria, will feature a 30bbl brewhouse with multiple 60bbl fermenters and lagering tanks, as well as a Tap Room which will offer sampling and growler sales to go.
The Beersmiths @ SingleCut mandate to deliver “a steadfast meticulousness toward everything that can fit into a pint glass” includes a staunch dedication that all of their production be handled in-house in Astoria.
Rich Buceta, President and Head Brewer is extremely proud to call Queens the home of SingleCut Beersmiths; “Queens is my birthplace, and the fact that it is yet to have a brewery to call its own was destiny.”
“We feel it is critical not only for the quality of the beer but also the consistency that it be brewed under one roof - When we promote our beer as being ‘local’, there will be no fine-print”.
The brewery will also self-distribute, providing retailers with a direct relationship to the SingleCut Beersmiths themselves.
Each of the Beersmiths at SingleCut also are passionate about music, so the brewery will provide a stage for live bands to be featured during events.
A 10-year lease has been signed, and build-out is slated to finish in July with initial distribution to begin in August or September.
Featured beers will include ales with unique hop profiles, as well as lagers. Rich hopes to spark a lager resurgence, but is quick to add “They won’t be anything like your dad’s lager. Think more along the lines of ‘lagrrr!!’”
