These beers pay tribute to the famous Graffiti Highway in the abandoned local town of Centralia, PA and they were developed through a series of test batches on the Scratch Lab 3BBL Brewing system. In the end, Tröegs developed a juicy tropical IPA as well as a Double IPA, both named Graffiti Highway. Both beers will feature artwork by Pittsburgh-based Jewels Despines and both cans look great.
Of course I can’t wait to test drive both beers…so off we go.
Tröegs Graffiti Highway IPA
ABV: 6%
Style: IPA
Packaging: 12oz Cans
Appearance: Bright gold
Aroma: Grapefruit, tropical fruit & bright berries
Mouthfeel: Medium
Taste: Grapefruit, juicy oranges, pineapple and tart berries
Overall: Graffiti Highway IPA has a lot of the fruit-forward hop flavors that I love in an IPA. With loads of grapefruit, bright citrus, fresh berries and a punch of tropical fruit, this beer has a lot of good things going on. Overall I’d say this has to be one of my favorite hoppy Tröegs beers and I’m happy to report that this beer will be going year-round.
Tröegs Graffiti Highway DIPA
ABV: 9.5%
Style: Double IPA
Packaging: 19.2oz Cans
Appearance: Golden orange
Aroma: Grapefruit, orange, berries & mild pineapple
Mouthfeel: Medium & satisfying
Taste: Grapefruit, juicy citrus, pineapple and sweet berries
Overall: Graffiti Highway DIPA shows a strong family resemblance to the IPA version with loads of fruit-forward flavors and just a bit of a boozy mouthfeel. Overall this beer checks a lot of boxes for me including the “fruit-froward” box, the “glad it is year-round” box and the “really tasty and drinkable” box. This is a really good DIPA!
Tröegs Graffiti Highway IPA and Graffiti Highway DIPA are available now and year-round in 12oz and 19.2oz cans respectively, so get out there and try them for yourself….and when you do taste them, be sure to let us know what YOU think. zzubreebym
