Every day I leave my desk at noon and spend the next hour working out. In summer I’m out on the trails running, and in winter I’m on an elliptical trainer in the gym…but there’s one thing they both have in common…they’re boring!

With that in mind, my savior for working out without boredom is music, and you can’t have great music without great earbuds. I’ve tried them all including three different styles in the last two months, but I’m happy to say that I’ve found a pair that instantly became my favorites.

I’m talking about the 1MORE Fit S50 Open Earbuds, and today we’ll be taking them for a test-drive. Before we dive into the testing, lets talk features. According to 1MORE, the S50 ear buds feature:

  • 1MORE innovative open-ear sports earbuds elevate your athletic performance combined with ultimate comfort. Stay connected to your surroundings while enjoying music and ambient sound simultaneously without needing to remove the earbuds for communication. Embrace a seamless outdoor experience like never before.
  • Featuring the exclusive 1MORE PurePower Driver with a diamond-like-carbon (DLC) diaphragm, these earbuds deliver a 40% boost in power compared to conventional models. Experience remarkably well-balanced sound with exquisite attention to even the most subtle of details.
  • The Built-in memory metal wire and ear hooks designed by using various test models fit snugly on your ears for long-wearing comfort, light and airy coming in at only 10 grams each earbud lets you feel free no matter what hairstyle, accessories, or helmet you are wearing.
  • Dual mics of each earbud and AI-enabled ENC algorithm accurately pick up the human voice and eliminate background noise by up to 30 dB, even in bustling crowds, the two-way calls are still clear.
  • Let the rain pour, the sweat drip, and the challenges surge. 1MORE waterproof headphones are built to stand strong, delivering an immersive sound experience that defies all odds.

As you can see, these are not your ordinary earbuds, so naturally I’m excited to test them out….so off we go.

Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights the 1MORE Fit S50 Open Earbuds (Review)I start every ear bud review with comfort. Afterall, if the earbuds feel funny or irritating or more importantly, if they’re always falling out of your ears when you’re running, your workout will suffer. The S50 earbuds fit my ears snugly and comfortably and they were so lightweight (10 grams per ear bud) that I barely knew they were there. They also feature a “built-in memory metal wire and ear hooks” making for a comfortable fit and no worries about the earbuds falling out. These are not your typical ear bud cones and the buds themselves are round with openings toward your ear AND openings on the sides (see photo below).

I ran a quick 4-mile run and the S50 buds remained comfortable and in my ears where they belong. Most importantly, the S50 feature an “open ear” design making them extremely comfortable and allowing you to still hear what’s going on around you. This is particularly important to me since I run 5-days a week in or near traffic. I really liked how the S50 buds allowed me to jam to the music when I wanted to, and still hear my surroundings when I wanted to WITHOUT having to remove the buds constantly to hear traffic.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights the 1MORE Fit S50 Open Earbuds (Review)

Lets talk tech next. My S50 buds Bluetooth 5.3 easily paired with my iPod and they charged quickly and reliably in the included case. The charging case also supports quick charge (2-hours of play on a 5-min charge) when needed and 1MORE claims a 38H total playtime and 11H earbud battery life without the case. I used the S50 buds for 4-days and over an hour each day and they still had plenty of battery, so I suspect 1MORE’s claim is accurate. I was also excited to see that the S50 buds are IPX7 water and sweat resistant so they were perfect for sweaty workouts and an accidental run in the rain.

By now you’re probably wondering how they sound, and I’m happy to report they sound great. The treble and mid-range tones are crisp and clear and the base was booming, especially on newer songs with better digital quality. I’m also happy to report that even on older analog music, the S50 buds still sound great. This all appears to be a result of the DLC Diaphragm and the “Purepower” driver (that boosts power by 40%) and I was really happy with how they created the combination of loud music and the ability to stay aware of your surroundings. This is perhaps my favorite feature of all.

Finally let’s talk cell phone usage. Once again the S50 buds paired easily with my Samsung phone and answering a call was quick and easy. I should also mention that the S50 feature FOUR different high-performance MEMS microphones and AI-powered algorithms that help eliminate background noise and make your calls clear. I tested this in a busy hallway and I was easily able to hear my caller and he was able to hear me very clearly.

If all of this isn’t enough to convince you that the S50 buds are really good, they also feature a smart playback function that pauses music when you remove an ear bud, a voice assistant, an App for your phone to customize your ear bud controls AND wireless charging for the ultimate in convenience.

If you haven’t guessed by now, the 1MORE Fit S50 Open Earbuds have become my go-to buds and I now use them exclusively for working out. The comfort, convenience and sounds are amazing and the tech features make them easy to live with for a long workout or long-term usage. Overall I think the S50 buds have to be one of the more unique ear bud designs I’ve ever tested, and I’ve tried dozens…and I’m happy to say they the S50 buds simply work great!
