Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Bell’s Oberon Eclipse (Review)

I should probably mention up front that I’m a big fan of beers from Bell’s Brewery, especially Oberon. I should also mention that I just returned form the beach where we quickly killed the Oberon Variety pack and named it one of our favorites. My favorite was the Cherry flavor, but all of that is now up for grabs as the new Bell’s Oberon Eclipse has arrived at mybeerbuzz headquarters.

I first brought you a peek at this beer back in April, and a follow up with more details from Bell’s on Sept 13th 2023. These details are from Bell’s:

“There’s nothing Bell’s fans anticipate more than Oberon season, which is traditionally from March to September. But as Midwesterners, we know the fun doesn’t have to end just because it isn’t 70 and sunny.Oberon Eclipse is our way of embracing those longer nights and colder temperatures”said Scott Powell,Director of Marketing for Bell’s Brewery.“Whether it’s using a snowbank as a beer cooler or enjoying a campfire under the stars, Eclipse invites drinkers to welcome the change in seasons with open arms—and an Oberon Eclipse in hand.”

“Fans have been demanding year-round Oberon for years now, so we love when we get a chance to give our fans–and our business partners–something they’ve been asking for” said Carrie Yunker, Executive Vice President of Bell’s Brewery.“Oberon continues to be a top-performer here in the Midwest, and our retailer and distributor partners rely on that seasonal release. As we close in on national distribution this year, it’s vital that we continue to provide retailers and distributors with demand-driving products year-round.”

“A lot of people think the time change signals an end to their days of summer fun,” Yunker said. “And,while it’s true Summer is behind us,we instead want to encourage fans that it’s all about perspective. With Oberon Eclipse, we’re excited to be able to offer fans an Oberon that now fits perfectly with the season.”

Of course I want to sample this beer with all of the regular Oberon variants fresh on my min, so off we go.

Bell’s Embraces Changing of the Seasons With of Oberon Eclipse

Bell’s Brewery 2023 Oberon Eclipse

Brewery Description: For those long winter nights, introducing Oberon Eclipse. To reflect on the change in seasons, Oberon Eclipse is slightly stronger and darker than its namesake. However, it still remains easy-drinking and refreshing. It’s the perfect beer for cozy nights spent in good company.

ABV:  6.3%
IBU: 20
Style:  American Citrus Wheat Ale
Packaging:  12oz cans
Appearance:  Deep copper orange
Aroma:  Citrus, coriander and mild spice
Mouthfeel:   Light
Taste:   Bright oranges, balancing coriander & wheat malt
Overall:  Oberon Eclipse is a interesting fall version of this summer classic, and while it follows the same pattern as the original, it is very different. The beer is rich and satisfying with just a touch of orange and coriander and a crisp clean finish. Overall I thought it felt a bit like regular Oberon but with the perfect fall flair.
